Liverpool star says his ‘heart’s desire’ is to play for three-time league champions

Liverpool star Alisson Becker has admitted that he wants to play for Internacional again before the end of his career in an interview with Globo Esporte (via The Mirror).

The goalkeeper has been one of Liverpool’s most important players over the past few seasons, but it seems as though he may not be at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

The stopper has admitted that he doesn’t know when he is planning on going back to his home country, but it seems as though that is in his plans further down the line.

“I have the desire to return to Brazil, but when it will happen, only God knows,” Alisson said.

“I know that God has something for me, I want to follow God’s plans for my life, but my heart’s desire for when I return to Brazil, if God goes to answer it, is to return to Inter, home, the club that I love.

“I have a lot of respect for all the clubs in Brazil, I might even want to play for some other club, but I don’t know if I would be able to go back to Brazil and not go to Inter.”

Luckily, it doesn’t seem as though Alisson is planning on leaving anytime in the immediate future as he is still under contract at Anfield for a further four years, but when he does eventually leave, Liverpool will have a big job on their hands when it comes to replacing him.

Alisson has arguably cemented himself as the world’s best goalkeeper during his time at Liverpool, and if the Reds are going to adequately replace him when he does leave, it will cost them a pretty penny.

Goalkeepers are often able to play at a high level until their late 30s, and many will have hoped that Alisson could have held down that spot for the best part of the next decade, but it seems as though he doesn’t plan on sticking around Merseyside for that long.

You can understand why Alisson wants to return to Internacional, they’re the team that gave him his big break and he may feel like he owes it to the three-time Brazilian champions to go back and repay the faith they showed in him at a young age.
