Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has said after Wednesday’s win over Arsenal – as per BBC Live – that Manchester City are a “fantastic” team and the left-back would still rather be in their position, a point ahead in first.

Robertson, 28, notched his 50th assist for Liverpool at The Emirates as the Reds ended Arsenal’s run of five wins with an improved second-half display. Thiago found Diogo Jota for the first, before Firmino got a second.

The win sees Liverpool close the gap on Manchester City to just two points – after Pep Guardiola watched his side become unstuck at bogey team Crystal Palace on Monday night. With nine to play, the title race is very on.

Speaking about Manchester City, Liverpool’s £8million (Independent) signing described them as a “fantastic” team – and claims he would rather be in their position. That is given they remain first, a point ahead.

“I would still rather be in their position. They are a fantastic team, one of the best in the world. Then it’s a sprint to the finish line. We’re in the race so we need to focus on what we’re doing. We still have to go to their place.”

Robertson on Manchester City: Liverpool have the momentum

City’s performances of late, even during some wins, have been below par. If they are to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League – Guardiola has got to get the best out of his star-studded squad.

That is the only way to stop the juggernaut that is Liverpool at the moment. Anything in the way of Jurgen Klopp’s mentality monsters is being elbowed aside. They are relentless, even against an in-form Arsenal.
