Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed to The Liverpool Echo that manager Jurgen Klopp has been urging him to take the game by the scruff of the neck at times throughout the season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in good form in recent weeks and scored a superb goal against Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this week.

The 24-year-old former Arsenal star has scored three goals and provided five assists in 13 Premier League starts for Liverpool so far this season.

The England international midfielder has scored two goals in 212 minutes of Champions League football for the Reds so far this campaign.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who earns £120,000 per week as salary at Liverpool according to The Mirror, has revealed what manager Klopp has been urging him to do all season.

The 24-year-old told The Liverpool Echo: “The manager has been pushing me all season and shouting at me for not taking the game by the scruff of the neck at times and providing those kinds of moments – being the one shooting and making the difference. Slowly it is starting to pay off.”

Improvement at Liverpool

Oxlade-Chamberlain has clearly improved at Liverpool, and looks a more confident and a more mature player than he was at Arsenal.

The England international has been deployed in his favoured central midfield role, and that has helped his game to a massive extent.
