Lucas Leiva admits Liverpool’s display against Ludogorets was disappointing.
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has admitted the Reds did not play well, after a 2-2 draw with Razgrad Ludogorets.
The Brazilian was brought back into the holding midfield role, but the switch was still unable to help the Reds keep a clean sheet.
The club’s draw gives them a chance to progress to the next phase, needing a win against Basel to progress.
Lucas suggested it was the side’s desire to dig in which got them a result, rather than a real show of quality, which is always welcome as a temporary solution, but more is needed for the club to get back to playing the scintillating football they were last season when they were sweeping teams aside.
| Position | Match | Passing Accuracy | Aerial Duels Won | Tackles Won | Interceptions | Touches | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lucas Leiva | MF | Ludogorets vs Liverpool | 85% | 5 | 4 | 2 | 80 | 90 |
Lucas himself actually had a very good game in Bulgaria, competitive in the air and winning tackles and interceptions. With Steven Gerrard moved into an advanced role, Brendan Rodgers will have certainly been given food for thought.
