The Reds midfielder has admitted that ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ gives him goosebumps.

Liverpool's Marko Grujic scores their first goal

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has told the club’s official website that he was blown away by hearing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ being roared from the Anfield stands for the first time.

Grujic joined Liverpool in January but did not link up with his new club until the summer after finishing the season at his previous club, Red Star Belgrade.

The 20-year-old Serbia international has been a sporadic first-team player for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this season as he slowly integrates himself into life in England.

For many players coming to the Premier League from abroad, the first thing that stands out is the intensity and pace of the football in the division.

However, Grujic has chosen to focus on something Liverpool-specific, and told the club’s website that he was given goosebumps by witnessing Anfield’s rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ for the first time in person.

The midfielder said: “The feeling is 10 times better. I know the fans try to be better and better from game to game. I know they are our 12th player. They give us a special force and push us forward. It’s important for every player on the pitch.

“I watched many videos of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ on YouTube, but this was the first time I felt it [in person]. I was very impressed – goosebumps.”

Grujic may have been overawed by the Liverpool faithful, but he has coped fairly well with the chances he has been given so far in Klopp’s side.

The 20-year-old has featured just four times so far in his debut campaign as he is blooded by his manager, starting two EFL Cup ties and making a further two substitute appearances in the league.
