The Liverpool player hit the frame of the goal a massive 9 times during the 2013-14 season, almost twice as much as any other.

According to official Opta statistics, no player struck the post or crossbar more times than Liverpool forward Luis Suarez did in last season’s Premier League.

The Uruguayan struck the goal frame 9 times over the course of the year. Considering that he was also the league’s top scorer, it indicates how much of a threat the Reds star was this season. Suarez’s already outstanding 31 goals in 33 games would have reached an unparalleled 40 goals in 33 if he would have converted the chances that ended up coming just short.

Liverpool have some affiliation to the top four woodwork strikers, with Suarez’s strike partner Daniel Sturridge, already second highest goalscorer in the country, also coming in joint second in this list as he hit the frame of the goal 5 times. If he would have converted these attempts he would have ended up with 26 goals in 29 games.

There were two other players that hit the woodwork 5 times, and therefore sharing second place. One was former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch, now at Stoke City, and the final player is Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, who may be set to move to the Reds before the World Cup.

Other names of note on the list below are Manchester United’s Robin van Persie, who was a lick of paint away from adding to his 12 Premier League goals on 4 occasions despite only playing 21 games.

Also, Tottenham’s Jake Livermore, on loan at Hull City, and Robert Snodgrass, relegated with the Canaries, stand out as the only midfielders to have struck the woodwork 4 times.
