Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is seemingly set to leave to the club in 2023, with the 27-year-old not willing to open contract talks with the Premier League side until January.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the former RB Leipzig star won’t entertain talks over a new Liverpool contract until the new year, where Keita will have just six months left on his current deal as the midfielder looks more and more likely to leave Anfield in 2023.
Sport Bild have recently reported that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Keita, and this latest update could provide the Bundesliga side with a boost in their quest to land the Guinea international for cheap in the January transfer window.
Keita has struggled with both injuries and form since moving to Liverpool from Leipzig, and this latest update from Germany could be the clearest hint yet that the African superstar is keen to leave Merseyside for a new challenge in his career where he can back to his previous best.

The midfielder was one of the most exciting talents in Europe before Liverpool pipped their rivals to Keita’s signature. However, things just haven’t gone to plan for the 27-year-old during his spell at Anfield despite winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Indeed, Keita’s style of play has not gone down well against English opponents. And with the midfielder now holding off talks with Liverpool until 2023, there’s a good chance that the former Leipzig star is keen to move on from the Premier League and onto a new division.
Keita deciding to leave Liverpool will be the best for everyone

Whilst Liverpool’s transfer policy has been nothing sure of a success in recent years, there’s little to evidence to defend Keita’s signing, with the Guinea star costing more than the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Fabinho. And the midfielder leaving next year would be for the best.
There’s no denying that Keita is a great player who still has plenty of time in his career to make a name for himself. However, this chapter of Liverpool has not been what anybody expected, and the former Bundesliga star departing in 2023 would be the best outcome for both the player and the Reds.
