Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken to Instagram to hand Jurgen Klopp a big three-word injury boost as Liverpool prepare to take on Rangers at Ibrox – but the attacking midfielder will not be involved on Wednesday night.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 29, is yet to feature for Liverpool this season as he continues his fight to overcome a thigh injury. He managed 29 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, but last played in March – in the FA Cup against Forest.

He has been sidelined since. The Ox’s injury has coincided with a number of issues in the middle of the park, including Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Thiago and now, Arthur. All of which have had injuries this season.

Klopp has confirmed that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be one of the players missing from Liverpool’s squad to take on Rangers. However, the player himself posted a bit of good news on Instagram – with a three-word message to fans.

Oxlade-Chamberlain hands Klopp a big Liverpool boost

Liverpool need some excitement in midfield. A bit of vigour, a bit of attacking invention. England international Oxlade-Chamberlain is certainly capable of that and his return will give Liverpool a much-needed option from the bench.

He might even get the odd start, with Keita, Jones and Arthur still sidelined. It is a big boost for the Reds, but of course, he will not be in action against Rangers. He might win himself a place on the bench against Manchester City.

Games are coming thick and fast. A clash against West Ham on Wednesday night next week, a home match against the Hammers might be the ideal chance to give Oxlade-Chamberlain a run out. He needs to get fit quickly.

Indeed, his contract ends next summer and if he has any intention of remaining in Merseyside, he needs to be on the pitch doing what he does best. The £10million-rated star is a target for the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa (Mirror).
