Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has explained to reporters that boss Jurgen Klopp demands his players give him 100% and retrieve the ball as soon as it is given away, the Daily Star report.

Klopp had enormous success as manager of previous club Borussia Dortmund, winning two Bundesliga titles and implementing a style of play renowned for its high pressing and energy levels.

The German coach seemingly wants a similar blueprint at Liverpool, with midfielder Lallana explaining how the players are obliged to give absolutely everything and harry their opponents out of possession.

“He’s asking people to do different things to what they were used to so it will take a bit of time. I think in his first two games you have seen glimpses and moments of the style he wants to play,” Lallana said.

“Jurgen has made it clear that he demands 100 per cent. He wants us to win the ball back as soon as it’s given away. It’s not going to happen overnight, but I’m very confident we’re going to succeed under him.”

Positive signs:

While Liverpool have started their journey under Klopp with two draws, there were plenty of positive signs to take from each match, despite the disappointment of not claiming victory in the Europa League on Thursday.

Against Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds faced a side that had out-run each of their opponents over the first eight Premier League games of the season, and more than competed in that aspect.

While the Merseysiders will be slightly disappointed at having not beaten Rubin Kazan, they created chances galore and surely it’s always better to create and not score than not create anything at all.

In previous games under Brendan Rodgers, the Reds seemingly went through the motions and a lack of urgency was evident in their play. Under Klopp, this certainly isn’t the case so far.
