As per the latest information provided by journalist Julien Laurens via Twitter, Ibrahima Konate could be a possible inclusion in France’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The former RB Leipzig starlet could be included in a defensive roster which is set to include the likes of Manchester United’s Raphael Varane and Arsenal’s William Saliba amongst others, as confirmed by Laurens himself.

So far, the 23-year-old has only managed to earn just a single cap for Les Bleus, which could mean that his inclusion remains dicey.

After all, the likes of Varane and Saliba, as well as centre-halves such as Barcelona’s Jules Kounde and AS Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile are much more experienced in comparison to Konate.

However, it is key to emphasise that the highly-rated defender has been one of the most in-form players in position since his arrival at Anfield last summer.

It is telling that Ibrahima Konate started instead of Joel Matip in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, who was perhaps one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League last season.

While he has been injured for a chunk of the ongoing term, the Paris-born defender showcased his class in recent fixtures against the likes of Napoli and Tottenham.

Despite Liverpool being expected to concede a number of goals ahead of both encounters, Konate’s commanding presence ensured the side kept clean sheets in both big games.

On Didier Deschamps’ part, it would be a wise decision to take the Reds defender to Qatar, considering the invaluable experience he would gain from being in and amongst the French side at the showpiece event.

With Konate expected to be in the national team’s setup for years to come, the decision would be shrewd to say the least.

However, as things stand, it is likelier that he is bedded into France’s side at Euro 2024.
