HITC understands that Liverpool have again spoken to Chelsea to enquire about the availability of one of their key players this summer.

A new defensive addition as well as an attacker looks to be Liverpool’s priorities in the summer transfer window under new manager Arne Slot.

As for midfield additions, however, HITC understands that the club do not view the engine room as one of their big priorities amid links to Atalanta midfielder Ederson and the club believe teenager Stefan Bajcetic could fill in when needed.

A new defender will be one of Liverpool’s top targets and HITC understands they have enquired about the availability of Levi Colwill this summer.

Liverpool interested in Colwill

Liverpool have been keen on Colwill since his loan days at Brighton & Hove Albion and have made more than one move to try and land him, including in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are openly shopping a number of their homegrown products such as Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja – but Colwill is one who they have insisted is not available.

However, despite this public insistence from Chelsea, sources have told HITC that the Englishman is keen on seeking assurances from Enzo Maresca about his future at Stamford Bridge.

It is also believed that Colwill sees his future in central defence and last season he actually started more games at left-back.

He is certainly a talented player with former Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino once saying: “At the moment I need to see him and get to know him better. He is a fantastic talent of course.”

Liverpool are understood to be aware of the defender’s concerns in West London and have sought to make sure that both Chelsea and the player remain aware of the club’s interest.

Liverpool’s need for defensive reinforcement

Liverpool are understood to be eager to add defensive reinforcement this summer and Colwill isn’t the only name on the list with Lille teenager Leny Yoro also attracting interest.

Yoro is set to leave France this summer with Liverpool and their arch-rivals Manchester United keen on signing the French teenager.

However, despite this, the player’s preference is understood to be a move to Champions League winners Real Madrid this summer.
