Liverpool need to add real quality to their forward line if they want to return to the top table of European football.

According to a recent report from the Daily Express, Southampton would like to take Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan in January with a view to signing him permanently for £25million next summer.
If that is true, Liverpool should bite their hand off and use the cash as part-payment for a mega bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Sturridge can still score goals on a regular basis, but he has fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool and his injury problems remain a concern.
Liverpool would in essence swap someone who has become a fringe player for a huge amount of money, enabling them to have extra funds to go all in for the Dortmund star in 2017.
While Liverpool’s attacking options are wonderful to see, they will need to kick on next season if – as expected – they return to the Champions League, and Aubameyang would take Anfield by storm.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows him very well and when you consider the Gabon international has scored 95 goals in 159 matches for the Bundesliga club, including 15 in just 16 appearances this season, he would certainly be an upgrade on Sturridge.
With a contract until the summer of 2020, Aubameyang would not come cheap, yet with an extra £25million from the sale of Sturridge Liverpool would be better placed than most to seal the deal.
