Liverpool should move for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld if the club decides to sell him.

The report claims that Spurs are refusing to relax their stringent wage structure, and concerns are growing that they could be forced to sell the Belgian as talks over a deal has reached an impasse.

The 28-year-old defender is a world class player and arguably one of the best in the Premier League. He reportedly earns around £50,000-per-week, and that is where rich clubs can tempt him with a far better wage package.
Liverpool need a top quality central defender in the summer, and they should go for the Belgian if he is made available in the summer.
The Reds retain a long-time interest in Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, but he could cost around £70 million, according to Yahoo Sport.

Alderweireld could come at a decent price given his contract situation. It makes no sense for the Reds to not try for him at least.
But most importantly, he will not only add significant quality to the side, but also his capture will weaken a rival club.
