Liverpool pipped Tottenham Hotspur to the Champions League title in June.
Both Tottenham and Liverpool boast some of the best attacking talents in the country, but with the transfer window open they need more oomph to their attacking lines.
Spanish outlet AS recently claimed that Tottenham are keen on the signature of Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz, as they look for some competition for Harry Kane.
Liverpool should join the race for the 25-year-old because he would add much-needed quality to Jurgen Klopp’s already-frighting attack.
Diaz has experience on the big stage having played for Madrid, he won the Champions League and the La Liga title during the 2016/17 season.
But it just hasn’t worked for him at the Bernabeu as a move to the Premier League would do him the world of good, and playing under managers who are prepared to give young talent time to shine in Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino.
Depending on Klopp’s choice, Roberto Firmino or a Mo Salah would lead the line for him. Would Diaz get in front of those two? The answer is a clear no, but he can make the impact from the bench.
The Reds, who beat Tottenham to their sixth European crown last month, are a little bare when it comes to having some serious quality from the bench and a signing such as Diaz would change that.
Not only that, given his quick ability on the ball, directness and ability to go past opposition players, he would suit Klopp’s style of play and he does have what it takes to prove his worth for a starting birth down the line.
It remains to be seen what Klopp does this summer in regards to his forward line. If he gets the right player in then they may just pip Manchester City to the Premier League title next season.
