Liverpool need quality centre-backs and Manchester United and Chelsea are already tracking the Middlesbrough youngster.

According to an exclusive report from Team Talk, Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Middlesbrough’s Dael Fry, and Liverpool would be wise to enter the race while they can, with the Reds in need of quality centre-backs for both now and the future.

Liverpool’s defence continues to come under scrutiny and neither Ragnar Klavan nor Dejan Lovren seems to be the long-term answer for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

While Joel Matip is the best of the bunch, Liverpool’s porous back-line has caused problems time and again, and with the Reds’ attacking players failing to put away their chances, there have already been too many dropped points.

Fry is a brilliant prospect who has the potential to become a star for a top flight side, and at 20 he could be the perfect long-term option to play alongside Joe Gomez in the heart of Liverpool’s defence.

The 20-year-old Middlesbrough player has been making waves for a few years now and it is no surprise that Premier League sides are sitting up and taking notice.

Liverpool certainly have the money to spend and with their defence still in need of an overhaul, they would be foolish not to at least think long and hard about a move for Fry.

The England under-21 international has a huge future ahead of him and he could get games from the outset at Liverpool; something that is unlikely at either United or Chelsea should they make their move.
