Philippe Coutinho has been superb for Liverpool since his move to Anfield in January 2013, and is now a reported target for Paris Saint-Germain.

As rumours continue to mount regarding Paris Saint Germain’s interest in Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, there will surely come a time when the French champions test the Reds’ resolve with a concrete offer.

While the Brazilian must surely be considered integral to Jürgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield, a move from PSG could present the Merseyside outfit with an opportunity to sign a world-class striker.

The Sun have already reported how the Paris giants would be prepared to offer Lucas Moura plus cash in an effort to snare Coutinho, but Liverpool should make it clear to PSG that they will only entertain an offer for the Brazilian if they are offered Edinson Cavani in return.

Despite having a plethora of attacking options at Anfield, it could be argued that the one thing that may prevent Liverpool from winning major honours is their lack of a world-class striker.

Daniel Sturridge could be put in that bracket, but his injury record is not conducive with performing at the highest levels on a consistent basis.

Cavani, 29, has the ability and physical prowess to help transcend Liverpool to the highest level, and while they would lose Coutinho, they still have vast amounts of creative talent who could supplement the Uruguayan, including the likes of Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.

The PSG striker boasts a goalscoring CV that can be matched by few, with 187 goals in 279 appearances for Palermo, Napoli and PSG respectively.

He is respected as one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers, and his international record for Uruguay of 34 goals in 86 outings adds further credence to his reputation.

Obviously, any kind of potential move would heavily depend on multiple mitigating factors, but one thing is for sure, a Liverpool side managed by Klopp, that contained a striker with the ability of Cavani would be a mouthwatering prospect.
