There are some players that are great goalscorers, and there are those who are scorers of great goals. It seems as though Liverpool’s Divock Origi falls into the latter category.

Last season, the 24-year-old scored some vitally important goals for the club, from that winner in the Merseyside derby to his contribution in that astonishing comeback against Barcelona.

Albeit, his goalscoring numbers weren’t hitting the roof last term, any ball he did put into the back of the net was sending the Anfield faithful into delirium because of what it meant to them.

But despite Origi’s heroics during the last campaign, it seems as though the Belgian could be heading for the exit door this summer.

Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte have reported that Liverpool are prepared to allow Origi to leave the club in a potential deal involving Real Betis man Junior Firpo.

Yes, Liverpool need more depth and a player like Firpo would add dynamism and competition to the left-back area, but letting Origi go would be a seriously harsh call by the club.

Origi has earned cult status at Liverpool and there’s no doubt the supporters would be sad to see him leave, but he has just enjoyed his best spell at the club, so letting him go now would be the wrong call.

Klopp needs attacking depth, Origi proved that he is willing to provide that with his performances from the bench, allowing him to leave would result in the team taking a step backwards in that area.

Plus, at the age of 24, the Belgian is nowhere near his best and he is proving that under the stewardship of Klopp he is learning and taking his game to the next level, and will continue to do so if he stays on.
