Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his intention to remain at Liverpool in the coming years and sign a new contract with the club.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, the Egyptian international stated that he made his thoughts about staying with the Merseyside giants clear to the club’s owner FSG.
Salah’s contract expires in 2023, and whilst talks are seemingly ongoing, progress has been slow, with no breakthrough yet reached between the two parties.
The attacker is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season and has broken more records, with Salah this campaign becoming the league’s all-time African leading scorer, beating Didier Drogba’s record.
Indeed, Liverpool fans, the staff and Salah himself are desperate for the winger to sign a new contract with the club. And according to the man himself, he has stated to FSG his intentions to renew.
Salah said: “I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They [FSG] know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff.”
Liverpool must wrap up Salah’s new contract by the summer

The Egyptian winger continues to get better and better, with Salah having an argument as the current best player in world football. Which is what makes the club’s slow progress over a new deal confusing and questionable.
Indeed, Salah is one of the club’s best players in the history of the Premier League, and with the attacker’s contract slowly running out, Liverpool have to get into gear to renew the winger’s deal.
