Liverpool are planning talks with Roberto Firmino as they look to figure out what the future holds for the Brazilian forward.
The Reds have lost Sadio Mane this summer as the Senegal international has completed a move to Bayern Munich.
There has though been a huge addition to Liverpool’s attack with Darwin Nunez arriving from Benfica in a big-money deal.
Add in Mohamed Salah’s new contract and Liverpool’s attack looks pretty good with Salah, Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota raring to go.
But what comes next for Roberto Firmino?
Liverpool are planning talks with Roberto Firmino
Firmino was once so important to Jurgen Klopp’s setup at Liverpool.
The facilitator between Mane and Firmino, the pressing machine, the underrated cog in the Anfield machine.
It’s somewhat easy to forget that Firmino actually scored a Premier League hat-trick last season.
Yet that’s largely because the 30-year-old’s importance to this Liverpool team has waned.
First it was Jota’s arrival, then it was Diaz featuring out wide to push Mane centrally. Now it’s Nunez, the latest shiny new toy at Anfield.
Firmino managed just 10 Premier League starts last season with another 10 substitute appearances. That totalled less than 1000 minutes and he mustered only five goals and four assists.

The belief now is that Firmino’s time at Liverpool is ultimately winding down given that his contract expires in 2023.
It seems unlikely that Liverpool will give Firmino a new deal now, but The Mirror claim that they want talks with the Brazilian very soon.
The report suggests that Liverpool will allow Firmino to leave this summer if he wants to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The £29million signing from Hoffenheim back in 2015 has become a Liverpool hero and Jurgen Klopp called him ‘very important’ back in October.
All good things must come to an end though and with Firmino no longer a nailed-on starter for Liverpool, to looks like the end is nigh.
