Liverpool need attacking reinforcements in 2022 and FC Dallas hitman Ricardo Pepi is showing that he can be Jurgen Klopp’s man.
According to a recent report from CBS Sports, Liverpool are a potential destination for Pepi in the January transfer window.
Pepi has asked to leave FC Dallas and is desperate to make the move to Europe to further his career.
Now, Liverpool target Pepi has picked up an individual award after a superb season in Major League Soccer.
18-year-old Pepi won US Soccer’s Young Player of the Year award over the weekend. Christian Pulisic took the senior award.
Pepi won the award after bagging 13 goals in 31 MLS games. Add in three goals in just seven USA caps and it’s been a stunning year for Pepi.
Some may place an MLS caveat on Pepi’s achievements, but to be scoring that volume of goals at 18 is hugely impressive.
Pepi can be Liverpool’s man for the future
Pepi is only a kid and you have to manage expectations, but you can see him becoming a Premier League star.
A classic centre forward at 6ft 1in tall, Pepi has been compared to Robert Lewandowski.

If you needed a reminder of Lewandowski’s record under Klopp, he smashed 102 goals and 42 assists in 186 games.
Pepi’s huge potential has been underlined by this latest award, and Liverpool may well be pushing hard in January.
Roberto Firmino is 30 and Liverpool need to think about the future. Teenager Pepi can learn from the Brazilian before eventually emerging as a regularly goalscoring threat for Liverpool.
If Liverpool do land Pepi, they will hope that Klopp can work his magic with the American and truly turn him into the next Lewandowski.
