Fabrizio Romano has debunked the speculation that Liverpool are genuinely interested in signing Aaron Ramsey this summer.
It looks certain that the Reds are going to need a replacement for 30-year-old Gini Wijnaldum, who is months away from leaving Anfield on a Bosman.
With no promising updates regarding a new deal for the Netherlands international, Wijnaldum looks set to end his five-year stay on Merseyside.
According to Calciomercato, there is interest in the former Arsenal midfielder – now at Juventus – from reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.
But reliable Italian journalist Romano has rubbished the speculation, claiming that Ramsey – who’s only one month younger than Wijnaldum – isn’t a genuine option for the Reds or Michael Edwards.
He told his Here We Go podcast: “At the moment there is nothing. I think Liverpool are looking for a different kind of player. Ramsey is in the latter part of his career & he’s had a lot of injuries. They have a list for the midfield.”
The closer we get to the summer, the more transfer rumours there’s going to be and honestly, the vast majority will be untrue, but some will just be plain illogical and this one in particular seems to be in that bracket, considering that Ramsey is 30 and earning £400,000 per week in Turin.
