Harry Wilson is hoping that he has a future at Liverpool once his loan spell at Bournemouth comes to an end, according to the Liverpool Echo, despite claims that the Wales international has been put up for sale.

The emergence of a fleet-footed winger with an eye for the spectacular might have come at the wrong time.

Five years ago, Wilson would surely be a key part of the Liverpool first-team at this stage.

But with Jurgen Klopp’s star-studded side re-claiming their place at the top of European football, the Melwood graduate might find his route into the first-team blocked by Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and more.

Wilson has actually made just one first-team appearance in 15 years as a Liverpool player – that came in a 2017 FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle.

And despite scoring 22 goals in two seasons out on loan at Derby County and Bournemouth, doubts persist about whether Wilson has the consistency to make the grade at what is officially the best football team on planet earth right now.

The Echo claims that Wilson hopes there is a place for him at Liverpool. But, according to The Mirror, the Premier League leaders will listen to offers this summer, even if his £20 million price-tag has dipped slightly during an era of unprecedented financial uncertainty.

There is little doubt that Wilson could be a useful squad player at Anfield. But with Timo Werner expected to arrive over the summer, maybe a parting of the ways would be better for everyone concerned.
