Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both reportedly keen on signing the Cagliari ace.

According to a report from the Express, Liverpool are confident of beating Tottenham to the signature of Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, but which club actually needs the Italian more?
The simple answer to that question is Spurs, considering the fact that Mousa Dembele has been heavily linked with the exit door, and questions being asked as to whether Victor Wanyama is actually good enough for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Jürgen Klopp, meanwhile, has a wealth of central midfield options at his disposal, including Naby Keita, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Tottenham have looked rather laboured in the middle of the park over the past month or so, and with Harry Winks proving to be unreliable from a fitness perspective, the addition of a high quality central midfielder will surely feature highly on Pochettino’s agenda.
The Express claims that Barella will be available for around £35 million in January, and in today’s day and age, that would represent excellent value for someone with the 21-year-old’s quality.

The Italian possesses excellent technical ability, and that combined with his wonderful array of passing makes him the ideal signing for Spurs.
Pochettino has a lot of work to do at Tottenham over the next two transfer windows, and he must make it his priority to beat Liverpool to the signing of Barella.
