Liverpool are allegedly interested in signing the Benfica teenager.
According to a report from Portuguese media outlet Correio da Manha, Liverpool have had a €70 million (£61.8 million) bid for Benfica attacking midfielder Joao Felix rejected.
The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest properties, and he has been in fine form for Benfica this season, chalking up six goals and an assist in 18 appearances in all competitions.
And his fine performances have not gone unnoticed.
Jürgen Klopp is reportedly a big fan of Felix, and Liverpool have already seen a £61.8 million bid rejected for the teenager, according to Portuguese publication Correio da Manha.
It seems as though the Reds will have to drastically increase their opening offer, if they are to snare Felix.
According to Record, the Benfica starlet has a €120 million (£106 million) release clause inserted into his current contract.
Liverpool have a wonderfully exciting attack already, but it could be argued that they lack a top class number 10, and Felix possesses all of the attributes needed to be a success at Anfield.
He can also operate in a more orthodox central midfield role or even on the wing.
Whether the Merseyside outfit will come back in with an improved offer for the 19-year-old, however, remains to be seen.
