Jurgen Klopp thinks Liverpool will be back after their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday evening.

Liverpool travelled to Paris on Saturday night to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Having lost to Real in the 2018 final, Liverpool were desperate for revenge.

Add in that this was Liverpool’s last shot at a treble and the stakes were high for Klopp’s men.

It just wasn’t to be though as Vinicius Junior bagged the winning goal in the second half, with Real seeing out a 1-0 win.

Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was the man of the match as he kept Liverpool at bay on numerous occasions.

On another day, some of those Liverpool chances end up in the net; on Saturday it just wasn’t their night.

Jurgen Klopp thinks Liverpool will be back

Liverpool came so close to a quadruple but end up with two trophies.

That’s no disgrace by any stretch but the flip side is that Liverpool failed to score in 330 minutes of cup final action this season.

Jurgen Klopp will no doubt want to look into that over the summer in an effort to take Liverpool up another level.

That may mean signings or tactical tweaks but the Liverpool boss seems to be in a very confident mood.

Speaking to BT Sport after losing to Real, Klopp suggested that Liverpool will be back in the Champions League final next season.

Klopp – probably jokingly but also in something of a rallying cry – told Liverpool fans to book their tickets to Istanbul for next year’s final.

“Where’s the final next year? Istanbul? Yeah. Book the hotel,” said Klopp.

Those three words – book the hotel – may actually have some weight to them.

When Liverpool lost the 2018 final, they came back in 2019 and beat Tottenham to win the Champions League final.

Can you really bet against Klopp’s Liverpool doing the same again in 2023?

It also feels like fate that Liverpool would be in the final in Istanbul, the scene of their stunning Champions League final win over AC Milan in 2005.

Klopp may have just wanted to give Liverpool fans something exciting after a heartbreaking defeat, but those three words could mean something huge.
