Liverpool want Ibrahim Sangare but there are conflicting claims emerging about Bayern Munich’s interest in the PSV Eindhoven star.

Ibrahim Sangare continues to be linked elsewhere with Liverpool potentially in danger of missing out on another midfield target.

Liverpool’s search for a new midfielder has descended into a big mess of late.

A new anchor man was wanted after Jordan Henderson and Fabinho moved over to Saudi Arabia.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia became the top target but Liverpool failed with three bids as they failed to meet the asking price.

Liverpool pivoted to Moises Caicedo even with the Brighton and Hove Albion star valued at twice Lavia’s price.

A deal was agreed with Brighton but Caicedo chose Chelsea, leaving Liverpool to go back to Lavia as the top target again.

Remarkably, Lavia has matched Caicedo in terms of choosing to sign for Chelsea, seemingly preparing to battle the Ecuadorian for first-team minutes.

That frankly unbelievable turn of events leaves Liverpool scrambling for a new holding midfielder, with a number of names linked in recent days.

Liverpool could face Ibrahim Sangare competition

One of those names is that of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

ESPN Netherlands report that Liverpool are in the mix to sign Sangare alongside Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ivorian is a huge presence in midfield at 6ft 3in tall and has impressed for PSV since a 2020 move from Toulouse.

Hailed as ‘unstoppable’ by PSV boss Roger Schmidt, Sangare may be the kind of defensive midfielder Liverpool want but the Bayern rumours are taking some interesting twists and turns.

Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna claims that Bayern Munich are now discussing personal terms to sign Sangare.

Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a natural holding player and it’s stated that Bayern are trying to find an agreement with Sangare before paying his €37million (£31.5million) release clause.

However, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg – a fairly reliable source for Bayern news – claims that the Bundesliga giants don’t want Sangare at all and there are no negotiations.

The situation has become very confusing and Liverpool will be trying to find out whether Bayern really are in the race or not.

That release clause may well appeal to Liverpool, who have paid two release clauses this summer by signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Ruling out tough negotiations seems to be something that Liverpool like and they will be weighing that up with Sangare.
