Fabinho has arguably been Liverpool’s stand-out player this season.

Fabinho is having a truly monstrous season for Liverpool.

Before Sunday, the no-nonsense Brazilian midfielder was earning rave reviews for the tenacious style that has made him an invaluable member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

But it turns out that he can strike a ball too, evident by his 25-yard pile-driver in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield yesterday, sending them nine points clear of the reigning Premier League champions.

Still only 26, the former Monaco powerhouse is one of the world’s best midfielders right now and despite costing £39 million, he’s looking like an absolute bargain.

Not only was it a stunning decision to sign Fabinho, but it was also a very smart decision to sign him over Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Watford star said in March of 2018 that it was his ‘dream’ to play for the Reds [Canal Plus] and let’s face it, Liverpool could’ve got him if they wanted.

He had a £40 million price-tag at the time [The Mirror] but the fact that Klopp signed Fabinho for £1 million less has to go down as an utter masterstroke of a transfer.

Doucoure is no mug and there’s every chance that he’ll get a big move away from Vicarage Road either in January or next summer, by virtue of the fact that the Hornets might well get relegated come May.

But he is no Fabinho and what a brilliant decision it was to ignore the Frenchman’s come-get-me plea in favour of the man who Klopp has nicknamed Dyson on account of him hoovering everything up.
