Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has raved about his teammate Virgil van Dijk on the club’s official website.

Alexander-Arnold has said that Van Dijk is amazing and has outlined the Netherlands international central defender’s importance in the team.

The 22-year-old England international right-back has added that the 30-year-old knows how vital he is to the side.

The youngster has said that everyone at Liverpool is pleased that Van Dijk is back training now.

What Alexander-Arnold said

Alexander-Arnold told Liverpool’s official website about Van Dijk: “In and around the team, he’s such a big difference for us.

“Amazing guy, amazing player. But the impact he has on us is huge, he knows that himself and knows the role he needs to play within the team, as a leader and as one of the captains.

“He’s a big part of the team and everyone is really pleased to see him back training and in and around the team.”

Big season ahead

Van Dijk suffered a long-term knee injury last October and did not play again last season.

That was probably the moment when Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League title again last season ended.

Although the Reds eventually finished in the top four, it looked at one point that they may not even get a Europa League spot.

Van Dijk is one of the best centre-backs on the planet, and the Dutchman being back for next season will be massive for Liverpool.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has a very good squad, and the German boss will be keen on reclaiming the league title from Manchester City.

With Van Dijk in the team, Liverpool fans should be confident about a successful 2021-22 campaign.
