Liverpool are Premier League champions. The wait is finally over.
Jurgen Klopp’s side officially won their first ever Premier League crown in midweek, after Manchester City’s failure to beat Chelsea.
The Reds now take on their nearest rivals, City, on Thursday – and they have a chance to make a statement.
Although there have been suggestions that Liverpool may rotate between now and the end of the season, with the league wrapped up, it seems unlikely that Klopp will change his line-up too much against City.
Liverpool will surely want to put even more distance between themselves and Pep Guardiola’s men, to further underline their superiority ahead of next season.
It seems likely that Liverpool’s usual attack of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will all take their places, while the familiar back-four will also be used.
Klopp’s only real selection dilemma could come in midfield, with the German boss having to pick between Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita.
It could be that Keita is given the nod, as now is the perfect time for him to prove his worth.
Keita has had a difficult time since moving to Liverpool for £48 million (BBC Sport), with injury really curtailing his progress.
But with the pressure off, now may be the ideal opportunity for him to step up and prove his worth.
