Liverpool take on Arsenal in the Premier League today and Jurgen Klopp faces a huge dilemma for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
The Reds have been hugely underwhelming this season and Klopp has been searching for answers.
A very attacking approach – a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 – was Klopp’s idea against Rangers in midweek and Liverpool certainly looked better, claiming a 2-0 win at Anfield.
The question is can Klopp really go away to Arsenal and play that openly? It’s one thing to beat Rangers but another to beat a very impressive Arsenal side…
Liverpool predicted XI v Arsenal
One consistent player during Liverpool’s poor start to the season is Alisson and the Brazilian goalkeeper is almost certain to start again today.
Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk have settled into their long-standing centre back partnership again and will likely face the Gunners.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature at right back as he prepares for a very tough game against Gabriel Martinelli.
Andrew Robertson remains out injured though and that means Kostas Tsimikas is set for another start at left back.
Going 4-4-2 seems unlikely but a 4-2-3-1 may make more sense for the Reds.
That would see Thiago feature in a deeper role, but this time alongside Fabinho rather than Jordan Henderson.
Roberto Firmino would then come in as the number 10 with Luis Diaz down the left in an intriguing battle with Ben White.
Mohamed Salah would then start on the right flank, and we’re giving the nod to Diogo Jota.
Yes, Darwin Nunez needs minutes and he appears to be wowing Klopp in training at the moment.
Yet Jota and Firmino were both superb against Arsenal back in March and got themselves on the scoresheet against the Gunners, so this may be the safest option for Klopp.
That would leave the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Fabio Carvalho, Harvey Elliott and Nunez on the bench for Liverpool.
