Liverpool have snapped up winger Luis Diaz from Porto – and he contacted Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez to talk over a move.
Diaz had become a wanted man this season having hit 16 goals and six assists in 28 appearances for Porto.
The 25-year-old was always likely to leave Portugal at some point, and England looked like his destination last week.
Tottenham were the favourites for Diaz last week after making a £37.6million bid for the wide man last week, although Porto rejected that offer.
Liverpool wasted little time in hijacking the move, and confirmed Diaz as their only January signing in a deal worth £37million rising to £49million.
Diaz should make a huge impact in the Premier League, and will be looking to enjoy more success than some of his compatriots.
The Mirror claim that Diaz spoke to both Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez about the move – and both told him to join Liverpool.
Falcao, now with Rayo Vallecano, had two spells in England. Loan moves to Manchester United and Chelsea really didn’t work, scoring just five goals across 36 games.
Rodriguez started well at Everton last season but injuries were a problem for Rodriguez, as was the intensity of the Premier League.

In the summer, Rodriguez left Everton for Al-Rayyan in Qatar, meaning he spent just one season in English football.
Neither Falcao nor Rodriguez lived up to their billing in England, but urged Diaz to make the move to the Premier League.
There was a time where Liverpool fans will have held something of a dislike towards to Falcao and Rodriguez; after all, they turned out for rivals Manchester United and Everton!
In this instance though, the two players helped convince Diaz into making the move to Liverpool, bolstering Jurgen Klopp’s attack.
Liverpool fans may now end up being thankful for their advice, with Diaz potentially on a path to stardom after sealing his move to Anfield.
