How did Liverpool’s players fare in their 3-2 win over Norwich City this afternoon? Here are the ratings for Brendan Rodgers’ side…
Simon Mignolet 5 – Received criticism this week for not commanding his area well enough, and it showed today as he was at fault for Norwich’s first goal, flapping at a cross before Gary Hooper tucked it home.
Glen Johnson 6 – A shaky game from the England international. Looked uncomfortable defensively and it was not surprise to see that Norwich’s two goals came from crosses down Johnson’s side.
Martin Skrtel 7 – Liverpool’s strongest defender on the day, Skrtel was dominant in the air and put his body on the line to make a number of key blocks and interceptions.
Mamadou Sakho 6 – Much like Johnson, this wasn’t Sakho’s finest game. Nervous in possession and always looking capable of an error, Skrtel carried Sakho for much of the game.
Jon Flanagan 6 – Flanagan again performed admirably out of position, but was partially at fault for Robert Snodgrass’ goal, beaten badly in the air.
Lucas Leiva 7 – A decent display from Lucas in Jordan Henderson’s absence, getting from box-to-box well and keeping possession ticking over in the middle of the park.
Steven Gerrard 7 – Not quite as influential as he has been recently, but Gerrard went about his job efficiently, keeping the ball and working hard to stifle Norwich attacks.
Joe Allen 8 – Given a role in midfield with Daniel Sturridge injured, and he didn’t disappoint, serving as the most attack-minded central midfielder to support the attack with success.
Philippe Coutinho 8 – Didn’t impact the game to the extent of the Manchester City game last week, but the Brazilian linked up well with Suarez and Sterling to pose a threat to the Norwich back line.
Luis Suarez 8 – Another game against Norwich, another goal for Suarez. Key to many of Liverpool’s breaks, Suarez could maybe have had more goals on another day.
Raheem Sterling 9 – Electric throughout, Sterling was a constant menace to the Canaries and marked a superb display with two goals – the first was right out of the top drawer, whilst the second was somewhat fortunate.
Subs:
Victor Moses 6 – had little impact but used his pace well to get Liverpool away from danger late on.
Daniel Agger – brought on to steady the Liverpool defence, Agger touched the ball only three times.
