Liverpool battled to a 3-2 win at Anfield last night over a rival for a top four place.
Liverpool battled their way to a 3-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur last night, thanks to a late goal from Italian striker Mario Balotelli.
Here are our player ratings for the game.
Mignolet – 6
Looked relatively comfortable around his own penalty area and took command in difficult situations.
Can – 8
An outstanding performance, which once again showed his versatility in both defence and a midfield role.
Skrtel – 7
Good, basic, physical defending which made their backline difficult for the Spurs attack to get the better of.
Sakho – 6
Looked vulnerable up against Erik Lamela. He’ll be disappointed he couldn’t keep his good form going.
Ibe – 7
Two good performances in a row from the young winger. He’ll be full of confidence.
Gerrard – 6
Held his composure from the penalty spot, but this was far from his finest performance.
Henderson – 6
Worked hard throughout the game, passed and tackled effectively but again, far from his best.
Moreno – 7
Gave the Reds real width and pace out on the left hand side. Also did a good job defensively.
Markovic – 7
One of his best displays for the club. Gave a real threat and a direct approach. He drove at the Spurs defence and took his goal well.
Coutinho – 6
Credit to Tottenham, they dealt with him well. When it looked like he could get into the game, they placed him under pressure and forced him into passes.
Sturridge – 7
Looked lively in attack and did well to force Danny Rose onto the wrong side to win a penalty.
Subs
Lovren – 6
Came on and provided Liverpool with some extra defensive strength.
Balotelli – 7
Proved a point by bagging the side’s winner and looked like a real threat when he came on.
Lallana – 6
Busy on replacing Markovic. They lost nothing in terms of drive and threat.
