Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has posted that ‘the hard work continues’ after Jurgen Klopp shared positive news about him yesterday.

Klopp said to Liverpool’s official website that he had spoken to Van Dijk, and the Dutch defender appeared to be in a good place, despite his injury.

“He looks really good. I spoke to him this morning, I had him on the phone – he is in a really good mood. So it’s all very promising. But I don’t know when he will be back,” he said.

“There are for sure a lot of stages still to go over or pass or whatever. That’s clear. I had this injury myself.

“But for the time we are in and for how long he is out now, how long the rehabilitation is going on, he looks really, really promising. But that’s all.”

The positive update about Van Dijk, was backed up by the powerful central defender this morning, who posted photos of himself keeping fit, while out injured.

The sooner Van Dijk can come back for Liverpool the better, as he has been sorely missed.

The Reds are suffering badly without their talismanic defender, with their form taking a turn for the worse.

Initially it seemed as if Liverpool could potentially cope without Van Dijk and still win the league, but injuries have really taken their toll on the squad now, and Jurgen Klopp’s side are struggling.

The Reds are in fourth place and while they are still far from out of contention, a big improvement will be needed in the coming weeks, if Liverpool are to keep pace with the league leaders.

Klopp’s side are in action later this evening, when they take on Burnley.
