Diogo Jota has said to BT Sport, during their live Champions League coverage, that Liverpool will win their game against Manchester City if they can keep a clean-sheet.

Jota’s confidence was obviously sky high last night, as he netted his first ever Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta.

And Jota has now guaranteed that Liverpool will score against City on Sunday, in what looks like a huge Premier League match.

“Well five goals, that doesn’t happen so often to score five in one game,” Jota said.

“The clean sheet as well if we can keep a clean sheet against City we will win the game.”

Jota’s goalscoring form last night could well have forced him into Jurgen Klopp’s plans for Sunday now.

Liverpool’s front-three has previously been set in stone, but Roberto Firmino’s starting place is now under huge pressure.

If Liverpool can beat City then it would be the first huge blow struck in the transfer race.

The two sides have been each other’s biggest domestic rivals in recent seasons, and although both have shown weaknesses this term, they are expected to challenge for the title again.

As it stands Liverpool sit five points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side and currently occupy top spot in the league.
