Liverpool are ready to sell Georginio Wijnaldum to Barcelona at a loss, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported that the Reds have told Barcelona that they will sell Wijnaldum for £15 million, but the Spanish and European giants want to secure the services of the former Newcastle United midfielder for £10 million.
The report has added that the Premier League champions paid Newcastle £23 million in transfer fees to sign the 29-year-old in the summer of 2016.
It has been further claimed that Liverpool’s ‘American owners will not contemplate him leaving for free next summer’.
Good business from Liverpool?
With Wijnaldum out of contract at Liverpool next summer, the Reds do need to make a decision on the future of the midfielder soon.
Described as ‘a multi-talented, multi-functional footballer’ on Liverpool’s official website, the 29-year-old is in his prime and was brilliant for manager Jurgen Klopp last season.
However, from a business perspective, the Merseyside outfit would be better off selling the midfielder now and investing the money they will get.
However, Liverpool should look for more than £15 million for Wijnaldum even though he is in the final year of his contract.
