Nathaniel Phillips made his debut for Celtic today, and Liverpool fans will be encouraged by how the Scottish media has reacted to his performance.

Defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic signed Nathaniel Phillips from former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The Hoops brought Phillips to Celtic Park on a loan deal.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers decided to include Phillips in the starting lineup against Dundee on Saturday afternoon.

As you would expect, the Hoops won the match.

It made 3-0 to the home team.

Phillips started the match and played for 45 minutes.

Liverpool-owned Nathaniel Phillips praised for Celtic display

During his time on the pitch, the 26-year-old took one shot which was not on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 75.4%, won four headers, took 68 touches, and made two clearances.

GlasgowLive rated Phillips 7 out of 10 and noted: “The on-loan Liverpool man was handed his debut for the Hoops as he looked to impress ahead of the Champions League starting.

“The towering centre back strutted forward and looked very comfortable on the ball, spraying passes around in a very strong 45. Subbed at half time for Gustaf Lagerbielke.”

Nathaniel Phillips could flourish at Celtic

In our view, Nathaniel Phillips could flourish at Celtic.

The 26-year-old needs to play regularly, and he has a lot to offer.

It was always unlikely that Phillips would be a success at Anfield.

Celtic are a big club who are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and will also play in the UEFA Champions League.

We believe that the defender could go from strength to strength at Celtic.
