Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool remains unclear, with Arne Slot continuing to leave him out of the side.
The Italian forward has been a popular figure at Anfield since arriving in 2024, but despite his cult status, he’s struggled to secure regular minutes under Slot.
Rumours have started to swirl that Chiesa has been in touch with former club Juventus about a potential return to Serie A. It appears he may be ready to move on from his backup role at Liverpool.
Liverpool are already short on attacking options, and letting Chiesa go now could leave them even more vulnerable up front.
According to journalist David Lynch, though, there’s one condition under which Liverpool would be willing to let their No. 14 return to Italy.
Good offer could tempt Liverpool to let Chiesa leave
Selling Chiesa in January wouldn’t go down well with fans, who still believe the Italian can find form and make a bigger impact.
Speaking to Anfield Index, Lynch explained: “It would have to be a guaranteed permanent fee. There’s just no point loaning someone out who’s been important in recent weeks.
“It would make no sense to me unless there’s a really decent fee that they don’t think they could get in the summer. Can you imagine Juve coming in with a fee that makes it worthwhile for Liverpool? I find it hard to imagine but we will see.
“It’s completely up to them really, they’ve got to give Liverpool a decision to make and at the moment they’re just absolutely not. So, it’s kind of not really worth thinking about until the moment that begins to happen really.”
What price tag could see Chiesa leave Liverpool?
Even though Lynch didn’t put a specific number on it, there are plenty of clues pointing to what Liverpool might consider an acceptable fee for Chiesa.
The club picked him up for around £12.5m, and given his limited minutes since then, it’s hard to see them getting that full amount back.
So, a figure closer to £10m seems more realistic. With over two years still left on his contract, there’s no immediate pressure for Liverpool to move him on.
Chiesa has two-and-a-half years remaining on his deal at Anfield, so there’s no urgent need from Liverpool’s side to push through a sale just yet.
