Liverpool have signed Oludare Olufunwa on a free transfer after being released by Premier League rivals Southampton earlier this summer.
The Reds have one eye on the future with all of their signings this summer.
Darwin Nunez isn’t the finished product and Liverpool have certainly paid for potential wit hate Uruguayan.
Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay are both exciting talents but may be more for the future than right now.
Those are the first-team additions this summer, but Liverpool have now struck to add an intriguing talent to their developmental ranks.
Liverpool have signed Oludare Olufunwa
Whilst it hasn’t made many headlines, Liverpool have swooped in to sign defender Oludare Olufunwa on a free transfer.
The 20-year-old defender came up through the Southampton ranks but failed to make the breakthrough to first-team level.
Olufunwa mostly plays as a centre back but can also play at right back if needed and now joins up with Liverpool’s Under-21’s.
Liverpool haven’t made a song and dance about his signing, but have now uploaded Olufunwa’s profile to their player base, stating that he has signed after impressing on trial.

Liverpool needed additional defensive cover for their Under-21 setup having loaned out the likes of Billy Koumetio, Anderson Arroyo and Rhys Williams whilst Sepp van den Berg is likely to go on loan.
That means Olufunwa should receive plenty of playing time in the Liverpool development ranks this season before hopefully pushing towards the first team.
Southampton gave Olufunwa a two-year contract in 2020 and seemingly had high hopes for the youngster.
Southampton coach Dave Horseman praised Olufunwa as an ‘athletic defender’ whilst highlighting his leadership abilities at a young age.
The Saints decided to let Olufunwa go this summer but Liverpool were more than happy to move in and secure his services.
