Liverpool are showing an interest in signing RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda, who dazzled against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Lois Openda only joined RB Leipzig over the summer but is already on the radar at Liverpool.
That is according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, who claims that Premier League are ‘already very hot’ on Openda.
RB Leipzig travelled to take on Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night and it looked like becoming the Openda show.
Openda scored twice in the first half, breaking clear of the City defence to finish two superb goals.
City roared back after the break to secure a 3-2 comeback win, but Openda grabbed the attention with his brace.
Liverpool now interested in signing Lois Openda
Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri now claims that Premier League clubs are already chasing Openda.
Tavolieri notes that Liverpool are already interested just months after Openda left Lens for a move to RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga club paid around €45million (£39million) to sign Openda and they will be in a position to demand much more now.
Openda has hit 13 goals in just 17 games for RB Leipzig, whilst also notching three assists.
Hailed as ‘super-fast’ by Rangers boss Philippe Clement having worked together at Club Brugge, Openda could fit the bill if Liverpool want another forward.
Liverpool have a long history with Red Bull players
Some will question if Liverpool really need another right-footed attacker; Jurgen Klopp already has the likes of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz at his disposal.
If anything, Liverpool need a left-footer as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah in 2024.
Still, Liverpool have repeatedly signed players who have been in the Red Bull group – either Red Bull Salzburg or RB Leipzig.
Sadio Mane, Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Dominik Szoboszlai have all joined Liverpool after previously playing for Red Bull clubs.
Openda could be next for Liverpool, and we could hardly blame Klopp and co for being impressed with him after his display against City.
