According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool want Wolverhampton Wanderers’ centre-back Max Kilman.
This move would be very interesting for a number of reasons, but one intriguing aspect of this transfer is Kilman’s existing relationship with Diogo Jota from their time at Wolves.
Indeed, Kilman has gone on the record in the past about his friendship with Jota.
In an interview with The Telegraph a few years ago, Kilman spoke about his friendship with Jota, stating that the pair often played together during 2vs2 games of Teqball. The bond between the two players can be traced back to their shared background in futsal, where both players honed their technical skills before transitioning to football.
Liverpool’s interest in Kilman comes as no surprise, given their struggles in defence this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled at the back with Joe Gomez losing his form and Virgil van Dijk again battling with injuries.

Kilman, who is comfortable playing in on the left side of a centre-back partnership would be a great addition for Liverpool. His versatility would give Klopp the option to rotate Van Dijk which would give him more depth. Additionally, Kilman is known for his ability to carry the ball out of defence, which is a trait that suits this Liverpool team to a tee.
The presence of Jota at Liverpool could be a key factor in Kilman’s potential move to Anfield. Having a familiar face in the dressing room can help players to settle in more quickly and feel more comfortable in their new surroundings.
Kilman and Jota’s friendship could also translate to the pitch, as they would already have an understanding of each other’s playing style and strengths, especially as Kilman does like to play the odd van Dijk-esque long ball to his strikers.
Kilman’s potential move to Liverpool could be a win-win situation for both player and club. Kilman would get the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, while Liverpool would get a talented defender who could settle quickly due to his friendship with Jota.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on heading into the summer.
