Liverpool currently think that £50million is too much to pay for Romeo Lavia – especially with Stefan Bajcetic in the mix.
Romeo Lavia could be a little too expensive for Liverpool right now amid speculation surrounding the Southampton man.
That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Liverpool think £50million for Lavia is ‘far too high’.
Liverpool allegedly don’t think they have room for Lavia right now and won’t cough up a huge price right now.
Liverpool are well aware that Lavia doesn’t have all that much more experience than current Reds talent Stefan Bajcetic.
The Spaniard is a top prospect and Liverpool may well decide that Lavia isn’t worth adding on top of the 18-year-old.
Liverpool have already seen four midfielders move on in Arthur Melo, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner.
It may still take another departure to pave the way for Lavia to come in though with Thiago Alcantara currently linked away.
Rumours of Lavia joining Liverpool have been accelerating of late but these new claims will cool things down a little.

Arsenal and Chelsea still have hope over Romeo Lavia
Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri claimed on Tuesday that Liverpool were advancing their move for Lavia.
Yet it seems that Liverpool are now waiting in the hope that they can drive Southampton’s price down.
That could open the door for other clubs to pounce with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be interested.
Football Transfers reported on Tuesday that Lavia does have interest from Chelsea but wants to join Arsenal.

Champions League football and the chance to play for Mikel Arteta are understood to be very appealing for Lavia.
The Gunners would need to sell Thomas Partey first though, meaning both they and Liverpool have some complications.
Chelsea have cleared the decks in terms of midfielders and wanted to sign Lavia just weeks after he joined Southampton from Manchester City last summer.
The Blues could end up becoming a major player in the Lavia race with a Premier League move surely on the cards.
