Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now ready to match the offer from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea for Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to a report.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting on Twitter this afternoon that Liverpool are determined to sign Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Tavolieri has claimed that Chelsea have had an offer for Lavia accepted by Southampton.

Liverpool are now ready to match that offer.

The reporter has said that Lavia, who has been described as “incredible” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in the past, has not changed his mind regarding where he wants to go.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Twitter on August 11 that Chelsea were close to an agreement with Southampton over a £55 million deal for Lavia.

Exciting Romeo Lavia update for Liverpool fans

We believe this latest update on the future of Romeo Lavia is very exciting for Liverpool fans.

It seems that Liverpool are determined to sign Lavia in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are not going to give up, though.

It is very likely that the Blues will try to outbid the Reds.

In the end, it will come down to which club Lavia wants to move to in the summer transfer window.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are big clubs and are global brands, and it would not be easy for the Belgium international defensive midfielder to make his pick.

The biggest winners from this transfer saga would be Southampton.

Just imagine getting relegated to the Championship and then selling a 19-year-old player for at least £55 million.

That would be a very good piece of transfer business for the Saints.
