Liverpool are back in for Sofyan Amrabat as they eye the Fiorentina man to potentially replace Fabinho.

Fabinho’s expected move to Saudi Arabia means Liverpool are now back in the race for Sofyan Amrabat.

That is according to The Athletic and The Times, who claim that Liverpool will consider a move for Amrabat.

Fabinho is expected to leave Liverpool in the coming days having been left out of the trip to Germany.

Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad are pushing to land Fabinho and it sounds like the Brazilian will be moving on very soon.

Liverpool need to find a replacement for Fabinho in front of Jurgen Klopp’s back four.

Amrabat is now thought to be an option for Liverpool as they weigh up their next move.

Sofyan Amrabat may need to make Liverpool U-turn

Amrabat shot to stardom during the World Cup, turning in sensational performances as Morocco reached the semi-finals.

The 26-year-old has been a solid player for Fiorentina in Italy but maybe hadn’t reached those heights from the World Cup.

Interest in Amrabat was huge though and Liverpool were heavily linked in January and in the build-up to the summer window.

However, Foot Mercato reported in March that Amrabat wasn’t interested in signing for Liverpool.

Amrabat allegedly had his heart set on joining Barcelona and was ready to snub Liverpool interest.

That move to Barcelona never materialised though and Liverpool may now be his best option after all, sparking a transfer U-turn.

Erik ten Hag is a huge fan of Amrabat

Liverpool won’t be alone in the race for Amrabat though with bitter rivals Manchester United now keen.

United are in the market for another holding midfielder as competition for Casemiro.

The Independent report that United have made ‘initial overtures’ to try and sign Amrabat.

A move to Old Trafford depends on United making some sales first, leaving a window of opportunity for Liverpool.

United boss Erik ten Hag is a big fan of Amrabat though having previously managed him at Dutch side Utrecht.

That personal connection could tempt Amrabat into holding out for United but Liverpool may now hope to win the race.
