With many a young talent being involved in the game with Young Boys of Bern names such as Andre Wisdom, Suso, Adam Morgan and Samed Yesil will be missing but Liverpool still have plenty of young talent available for their opening fixture against the reigning champions Inter Milan.

Last season Liverpool played in the NextGen Series and despite impressive performances they will be rushing to forget a 6-0 tonking after a crushing performance by eventual runners-up Ajax in the semi-final in March.

Liverpool were dramatically reinstated last season despite being dumped out originally by Spurs, who had inadvertently fielded ineligible players and they went on to finish third. It saw the emergence of current first-teamer and recent England call-up Raheem Sterling who has now cemented a first-team berth in Brendan Rodger’s new look side.

Rodolfo Borell leads the young Reds into their first fixture of this seasons edition with an incredibly tough opening tie against Inter Milan, the reigning champions.

The game is in Milan and while Liverpool have a star player out in the form of Raheem Sterling Inter’s star performer from last season, Samuele Longo who is now completing a loan deal with Espanyol in Spain with similar aplomb to Sterling’s first steps into professional football (despite seeing red against Bilbao this weekend).

Judging exactly who to look out for in the NextGen series is difficult with Liverpool as it is growing increasingly clear that the young players feature heavily in Brendan Rodgers Europa League plans this season with Samed Yesil, Suso and Adam Morgan already being mooted as potential participants and with the game against Young Boys falling the day after the NextGen match-up in Italy many a big name will be missing from Liverpool’s NextGen squad.

So in terms of naming players to watch out for amongst the Liverpool ranks for now judgement will be reserved to see how they shape up for this clash.

Names such as Jordan Ibe, Andre Wisdom and Ryan McLaughlin however are names to keep a watchful eye on along with Armin Hozdic and Nacho also talented individuals.

While Liverpool’s first team may be struggling for form at the moment it is this NextGen-eration that holds a large portion of hope for the future of the club. With the progress of Raheem Sterling as a catalyst for success don’t be surprised to see Liverpool’s youngsters go all the way this season.

While the result against Inter may not be of much importance considering the prior engagements of many of their star youngsters, definitely keep an eye on Liverpool in this seasons NextGen campaign.
