Liverpool have announced that they have recalled Billy Koumetio from his loan spell.
In the summer of 2022, the 20-year-old powerhouse joined Austria Vienna for the 2022-23 campaign.
With Liverpool boasting an array of central defenders, Koumetio going on loan to get a full year’s experience of regular football was seen as the smart choice.
However, Virgil van Dijk has suffered a hamstring injury and according to BBC Sport, could be out for ‘several weeks’.
As a result, Liverpool have confirmed via their official website that Koumetio has been summoned back to Kirkby.
Koumetio, who stands at 6 foot 5, is a player who Jurgen Klopp knows and likes a lot.

In 2020, the Reds boss labelled the youngster as ‘pretty special’ [Mirror] and it’ll be fascinating to see if he has any role to play between now and May in Klopp’s senior squad.
He made his senior debut against Danish outfit Midtjylland in the Champions League a couple of years ago and therefore he won’t be overly daunted by the prospect making Klopp’s squad week in, week out.
Prior to his recall on Tuesday, Koumetio had made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Austrian outfit so far this season.
