Liverpool and Newcastle United are both keen on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone but may have to wait until summer.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has been talking about Kone’s future on Twitter this afternoon.

Romano claims that he has been told that the plan for Kone, his agents and Gladbach themselves is that Kone will be sold in the summer rather than January.

That means a host of clubs are already queueing up to try and sign Kone at the end of the season.

Romano claims that Liverpool and Newcastle United are both well-informed on a potential move for Kone.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Kone, with Gladbach no doubt hoping for a bidding war.

Who is Liverpool and Newcastle target Manu Kone?

Kone, 21, spent time in the ranks of Paris FC and Boulogne-Billancourt before heading to Toulouse in 2016.

Kone turned out 59 times for Toulouse, bagging five goals in the process before securing a move to Gladbach in 2021.

Now a vital first-team player for Gladbach, Kone has notched four goals in 44 games from midfield for the Bundesliga side.

Kone has become a very impressive box-to-box midfielder and looks set to have a huge future in the coming years.

Just as likely to dribble his way past opposing midfielders as he is to be breaking up play in front of the back four, Kone looks like the complete package.

Ralf Rangnick is understood to have been a huge fan of Kone for many years now and wanted him at Manchester United last year.

Liverpool need to completely overhaul their midfield options in 2023 and Kone may be the kind of player to bring the energy that Jurgen Klopp wants.

Kone may also fit the bill for Newcastle as they chase a midfielder to offer a base behind Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

The interested clubs seemingly face a wait to sign Konte, but let the battle commence.
