Liverpool have joined the race for Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay, with Newcastle United now also interested in the youngster.

The Daily Record claim that Liverpool are in the mix to sign Ramsay, joining their city rivals Everton.

There is now something of a queue for Ramsay though, with Newcastle United and Manchester United believed to be keen too.

Leicester City are considering a January bid, with Aberdeen potentially facing something of a bidding war for their top young talent.

Branded ‘elite’ by Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack, there are incredibly high hopes for Ramsay.

Ramsay, 18, has played 19 times for Aberdeen this season, bagging eight assists already in a stunning campaign.

Backed for a huge future at right back, Ramsay could now find his way to England in a big move in 2022.

Liverpool have a star right back already in Trent Alexander-Arnold. Yet with question marks over Neco Williams’ future moving forward, Ramsay could be signed as Alexander-Arnold’s competition.

Newcastle can offer a greater pathway to immediate first-team action, as none of they right backs are in the same stratosphere at Alexander-Arnold.

Aberdeen will now hope for a big fee for Ramsay, with Newcastle potentially able to pay even more than Liverpool thanks to their big takeover.
