According to The Athletic, Wolves are willing to sell Adama Traore for just £10m this summer.
In our view, this should have all of the Premier League on alert, but there is one team who could benefit more than any other from signing Traore – Liverpool.
The Reds were actually linked with Traore this time last summer, and they would be wise to reignite their interest in the Spaniard.
For a start, there is a clear spot open for him in the squad. Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino and Sadio Mane have all departed the club in recent weeks, so there is an attacking space available for someone like Traore, and at just £10m, he wouldn’t break the bank.
Traore may not be as well-rounded as a player like Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz, but he does have some very obvious strengths, and they suit Liverpool to a tee.
His pace and strength would be perfect for Klopp’s quick counter-pressing style, and while he lacks something of an end product, the ‘one of a kind’ attacker would surely be a fantastic option off of the bench,
However, the most intriguing thing about this potential move could perhaps be Traore’s ability to torment Liverpool’s greatest rivals – Manchester City.
The Spaniard is one of the only players in world football that truly has Pep Guardiola’s number, and after once again losing the Premier League title to the Cityzens by a solitary point, Traore could be a huge difference maker for the Reds.
Traore knows how to tear City apart. Back in 2019/20 he ran them ragged on two occasions, grabbing a goal and an assist on his way to a perfect 10 WhoScored rating at Molineux that year, while a similar scenario played out at the Etihad as a Traore brace sunk City.
Liverpool drew 2-2 with City twice last season and if they’d won either of those games, they would have been crowned Premier League champions in May.
It’s a game of fine margins, and signing Traore may well give Liverpool that slight edge over City.
At just £10m, this is one for Julian Ward to consider.
