Liverpool’s Neco Williams is joining Nottingham Forest and is undergoing a medical with the club today ahead of completing a £17million move.

Williams spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham having struggled for first-team minutes with Liverpool.

The Welshman impressed for Fulham and helped them win promotion – but Liverpool have been minded to sell.

Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay has arrived as a replacement for Williams and that deal certainly spelled the end of the line for Williams at Anfield.

His destination wasn’t clear with Fulham keen on a permanent deal and Southampton also linked – but it’s Nottingham Forest who have won the race.

Goal report that Williams will undergo a medical with newly-promoted Forest today ahead of finalising a move to the City Ground.

Williams will cost Forest around £17million as Liverpool rake in the cash for their homegrown right back.

Forest have moved in for Williams as their preferred right back target with Djed Spence unlikely to return.

Spence spent last season on loan at Forest from Middlesbrough but now looks more likely to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Forest had to go and find another right wing back and have picked Williams as their man for the job.

Boss Steve Cooper will know all about his fellow Welshman whilst teaming up with international teammate Brennan Johnson will surely appeal to Williams.

This move seems perfect for all parties and means that Forest now have their new wing backs sorted for the new season.

Forest have confirmed the signing of Bayern Munich ace Omar Richards, meaning he will play on the left with Williams stationed over on the right.

That’s some impressive recruitment for Forest, who have also secured the likes of Dean Henderson, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate and Taiwo Awoniyi this summer.

With Williams’ medical now imminent, Forest can look forward to another strong addition to Cooper’s squad.
